Morton Township Recycling Program

Recycling container

Located in the Morton Township Business Park on 9 Mile Road

Open every Saturday of the month – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 (Noon)

Open every Wednesday (June 3 – September 9) – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 (Noon)

A Recycling Materials Guide listing the “acceptable”, “non-acceptable” and “preparation for recycling” is available at the Morton Township Hall, during recycling hours, or you can view/print out a list here.

Beginning August 6, 2011, Allied Waste Services will provide us a container that will accommodate all materials. You will not have to separate your metals, plastics, papers, or glass. The container will be transported to Grand Rapids where its contents will be placed on conveyor belts and sorted. As long as we assure that only acceptable items are placed in the roll off, the program will continue. If people put any “trash” in the container, our use of the new system may be cut off.

“Box Tops for Education” and “Labels for Education” are two education-friendly programs that put small “box tops” or “labels” on the products that we purchase and consume every day.  Most labels are worth 10 cents for schools, but some are worth more.  If you don’t know of somebody who collects them, please cut them out and bring them to recycling where they will be collected and given to area schools.  Schools can turn in these labels for money and products for their school!

For a list of products that have “box tops” on them, check out the Box Tops for Education website and click on the categories or print a complete list: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/clip/brands.aspx  For a list of products containing “Labels for Education,” please follow this link: http://labelsforeducation.com/earn/participating-products.aspx
