Morton Township will begin processing absentee ballots early on Monday Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 6 election inspectors at the Morton Township Hall at 290 W Main St, Mecosta.

Voter ID Requirements

Michigan law requires that ALL voters show a picture ID. Even if election workers recognize the voter, ID is required. If the voter has no ID, or forgot to bring it to the polls, the voter must sign a brief form stating that they are not in possession of identification, and their votes are included with all others and counted on Election Day.

Picture IDs must be current and must include the person’s photo and name. They do not need to include an address.

Acceptable forms of photo ID are:

  • Driver’s license or personal identification card
  • Federal or state government-issued photo identification
  • U.S. passport
  • Military ID with photo
  • Student identification with photo from a high school or accredited institution of higher learning
  • Tribal identification card with photo
