Permissive Functions

Beyond the mandatory functions, Michigan townships are authorized to provide a wide variety of services such as fire protection, parks and recreation, trails, recycling programs, cemeteries, and other such programs.

Mission Statement

The Morton Township Board of Trustees recognizes the trust has been given to each member by their election or appointment to the Board. This trust brings responsibilities that each member shall address fairly as they conduct the Township business.

  • To serve its constituents with lawful, dependable, efficient, and fiscally sound service.
  • To be a place where employees and volunteers are encouraged to expand their knowledge and fulfill their individual potentials.
  • To conduct its affairs in a socially responsible manner while maintaining a kind and courteous workplace. The public, employees, volunteers, and other board members will be treated with dignity and respect always.

The Board of Trustees will always strive to utilize ethical practices and compassion for the needs of those around them and to reflect those ideas in our township decisions.
